I am interested in engaging and altering increasingly ubiquitous modes of contemporary media and communication. I maintain an openness to participating fully in the world around me, especially in the arms of burgeoning technology, but I employ traditional materials and historical tropes or processes as a means to highlighting a need for human autonomy. With every new media channel directed at changing societal behavior and every new gadget at its dedicated servitude, there are new cracks and chasms to inhabit.

These spaces are where my propositions are made. By sticking to a regimented set of self-imposed limitations to the way I approach making my work, I am able to establish the terms upon which I will receive unsolicited messaging and, conversely, project new suggestions. An additional impetus for the process behind this work stems from a desire to remove any barriers between drawing, painting, digital mark-making or photography. It is a longing for freedom.

I’m using, seemingly, unrelated tools and mediums to assist me in honoring the natural, impulsive desire to bring daily ideas to term. My work is a snapshot into my unconscious decision-making at any given moment and it is my hope that they lead to discovery for myself and the viewer. Each new work is a mark upon a line of questioning, an inward search that hopefully prompts an outward dialogue about the potential in each of us.
